Mahalo For Not Triggering My Anxiety
Oahu, Hawaii, is one of my favorite places. On a recent trip, I explored all sides of the island. Beginning on the North Shore, then traveling east and west for the beaches, and topping the trip off in Waikiki and Honolulu. Now, when I travel, I like to indulge in relaxing, eating and drinking, and finding time for vintage shopping.
Perfectly curated airbnb. However, it was SO LOUD staying here.
A roundup from Oahu
Old Waialua Sugar Mill. Hella cool (yes, I am from Northern California) surf shop featuring original art by the owner. The title of this blog post comes from one of his designs. There are several artisan shops and a recommended bar (unfortunately, closed the day I was there).
Number808. This store not only has an incredible selection of new and vintage clothing for men and women, but also has curated vintage home goods and books. Now, most are not for sale, but you can always.
Mike's Kiawe Broiled Huli Huli Chicken. Best chicken. Jurassic Park cast has eaten there. A must when on the North Shore.
Ko Hana Distillers. Agricole rum distillery. Delightful tour, incredible rum, and very friendly staff. Great way to spend an afternoon.
Harbors Vintage. Some might argue that the 1980s - 2000s isn't exactly vintage, but this shop has a nice curation, including sneakers and streetwear.
Maguro Brothers. The best poke you will ever have. Also, insanely affordable.
Bar Leather Apron. Hard to locate (it is inside an office building on what appears to be a former mezzanine level). Cocktails are worth the wait.
